Kristofer S. Michaud grew up in Clinton County, and lives in Cumberland Head with his wife Sherry and their son Finnegan. He is proud to offer his legal services to the people of the North Country.

Mr. Michaud completed the B.C.L. / LL.B. combined program at McGill University's Faculty of Law in 2007, earning degrees in both common law and civil law.

He began his legal career with O'Connell & Aronowitz, P.C. in 2008. The following year, Mr. Michaud founded his own law practice on the banks of Lake Champlain, concentrating in Family Law, Criminal Defense and DWI/Traffic Law.

Mr. Michaud is admitted to practice in the New York State Bar, Third Department and the U.S. Federal District Court, Northern District of New York. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Clinton County Bar Association, and the Clinton County Panel of Attorneys for Children.

Mr. Michaud regularly appears in Clinton County Court, Clinton County Supreme and IDV Courts, and Plattsburgh City Court. He also appears in Justice Courts in the Towns and Villages of Plattsburgh, Peru, Beekmantown, Ausable, Schuyler Falls, Saranac, Dannemora, Altona, Mooers and Chazy. Mr. Michaud represents both parents and children in Clinton County Family Court, and has argued before the Appellate Division, Third Department in Albany.

In addition to his duties as a lawyer, Mr. Michaud is also a practicing mediator. He completed a Master’s degree In Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School’s Straus Institute in Malibu, California in 2014 and has helped parties resolved difficult cases in the Los Angeles County Court system.

Mr. Michaud has been a featured speaker at Northeast Clinton Central School’s career day. He was profiled in the “Faces of Our Future” issue of Strictly Business magazine and served as President of the Clinton County Bar Association from 2015 to 2016.
